What is there to know?
My name is Sally, but my middle name is Lu. Growing up, my family called me “Lu Who,” and over time Lu became the name I felt most at home in so I carry it with me everywhere. I‘m a young artist based out of Northeast Ohio, resident artist at the Hub Art Factory in Canton Ohio. I specialize in watercolor, acrylic, and portrait work. I’ve been painting for as long as I can remember, always drawn to color, expression, and creating art that captures emotions.
I have so much gratitude in knowing that the girl I once was, would be as equally in love with my life, as I am now. My ability to create and express myself in doing so has always been the most consistent thing about myself. My dad is an artist as well, he taught me how to use a pencil before I even knew how to hold my utensils.
My paintings are lively, expressive, and color-forward, but always intentional. I love work that feels joyful and inviting, while still being thoughtfully composed and carefully made. There’s a sense of play in my process, but never a lack of care. Every piece is built with attention to balance, detail, and emotion, even when the final result feels light or effortless. Work can be fun, and still hold weight.
I‘m happiest when my days are creative, but not rushed— I love slow mornings and having my latest binge watch on while I work. Outside the studio, I spend a lot of time with my dog, Clover, and in my garden and greenhouse. I love being outside. I adore thrifting for hidden gems, and giving clothes a second life. I think it’s important to know the person behind the work which is why I share all of this. I value kindness, and authenticity.
